The Wayne County Health Department Environmental Health Unit

The Primary mission of the Wayne County Health Department Environmental Health Unit is to prevent and control the spread of communicable disease and minimize safety and health hazards by maintaining a safe and healthy environment through the enforcement of state and local regulations and through the education of the public in matters related to individual and public health.

The staff is composed of five full-time and one part-time registered Sanitarians/Sanitarian-in-training, one Supervisor, one Director, a Plumbing inspector and two clerks. Each sanitarian is responsible for conducting the environmental health programs within his/her designated area of program concentration.
