BUREAU FOR CHILDREN WITH MEDICAL HANDICAPS (BCMH) is a federally, state and locally funded program to provide financial assistance to parents of children (birth to age 21) who have a variety of chronic handicapping conditions.

Clinical Services are available in the
following areas. Please call (330)264-9590 for specific dates and times.
SPECIALTY VISION CLINICS are offered four times per year at the health
department to children who have apparent eye problems. These services are
provided free of charge to children from birth to 21 years of age.
THE COMMUNICABLE DISEASE PROGRAM provides a variety of services to assist with
the identification and control of communicable diseases. Surveillance and
follow-up is conducted by public health nurses on all communicable diseases
reported to the health department by private physicians and hospitals.
THE CONFIDENTIAL AIDS TESTING PROGRAM is available. Clients are seen on a
walk-in basis and client confidentiality is maintained through a process whereby
each client is given a code number for follow-up and no names are recorded by
the health department staff. Parental permission is not required for minors and
test results will be provided by a post test counselor only to the individual
that was actually tested. A donation is requested but no one is denied service
due to an inability to pay.
SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED DISEASE (STD) CLINIC is offered by appointment. Diagnosis
and treatment of gonorrhea, syphilis, herpes, and chlamydia is provided.
TUBERCULOSIS CONTROL is provided through surveillance and treatment for active
disease as well as preventive treatment.
IMMUNIZATION PROGRAM - Immunization services are available at the health
department. The health department also conducts satellite immunization clinics
in Apple Creek and Kidron on a monthly basis.
GENERAL NURSING SERVICES provided through our walk-in services.
WELL CHILD CLINICS for children from birth to 18 years of age are offered at the

WOMEN, INFANT, and CHILDREN'S PROGRAM - (WIC) is a supplemental food and
nutrition education program serving eligible pregnant, breast-feeding, and
postpartum women, infants, and children up to five years of age.
